Now [November 2007] regarded by Fernandez (2004) as in the genus Carebara {original description}.

Genus and the sole species first described by Belshaw & Bolton (1994a) {original description}.

Monotypic; the single known species is Afroxyidris crigensis Belshaw & Bolton.
