Camponotus (Myrmacrhaphe) oculatior Santschi

Santschi's (1935a) description is -
WORKER - TL 4.2 mm; head trapezoidal, as wide as long, strongly narrowed anteriorly, sides straight and converging forward; posterior border rounded. Eyes, close to the posterior border, are large and convex. Clypeus with a very strong median carina. Maxillary palps very long. Frontal carinae as far apart as their length. Scape surpassing the occiput by about half its own length. Pronotum impressed, edge anteriorly. Propodeum compressed and feebly angular. Promesonotal suture sharp and impressed. Metanotal groove slightly marked on dorsum but effaced on sides of thorax, reappearing at the base. Petiole scale convex anteriorly and straight behind. Femora compressed.
Colour black; apex of mandibles reddish. Head and thorax matt, head very finely sculpted, thorax finely reticulate. Gastral dorsum smooth and shiny. Sparse erect hairs on body, short on the internal borders of the femora. Pubescence very short and very sparse.
A slightly aberrant species, with its eyes placed more forward than other members of the subgenus.
