Type locality Zaïre (Santschi, 1935a: 281,
illustrated, worker) collected at Kai Bumba, 16.x.1920, by Dr
Schouteden; holotype worker only described (see Bolton, 1995)

Santschi's (1935a) description is -
Worker; TL 5.0 mm; head elongate like
Camponotus
conradti, but with the eyes larger and set further from
the posterior angles of the head which are slightly more acute.
Mandibles smooth but matt, armed with 5 teeth. Maxillae very long.
Clypeus without a carina. Scape surpassing occiput by about
one-fifth its length. Thorax lower and more elongated than the
other subgenus members. Thorax profile less arcuate. Metanotal
groove absent. Dorsum of pronotum compressed but more convex and
borders less pronounced. Petiole scale is remarkable for its thick
summit, rounded with a diffuse border; seen from the front
regularly arcuate. Gaster elongated.
Colour black; mandibles, antennae, inferior femora and
articulation of tibiae, yellow; rest of legs medium brown; borders
of gaster segments yellow. Very finely shagreened, dull. Posterior
angles of head and pronotum, petiole scale and gaster with reduced
sculpturation and shinier. Long oblique white translucent hairs on
head and thorax, more numerous on declivity of propodeum, petiole
scale and gaster; few on the legs. Pubescence whitish, short
closely spaced on body and appendages. The original is at

Type location Sudan (Camponotus (Myrmopiromis)
tricolor; Weber, 1943c: 387, illustrated, worker; new name
given by Bolton, 1995: 126, as original was a junior secondary
homonym of tricolor, Stitz, 1912, from New Guinea); worker
only known (see Bolton, 1995)
