Camponotus (Tanaemyrmex) somalinus André

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type locality Somalia (André, 1887: 280, soldier & worker; Menozzi, 1930b: 117, male); subspecies curtior (Forel, 1894b: 65, soldier & worker) from Ethiopia; and pattensis (Forel, 1907g: 91, worker) from Kenya; soldier, worker and male only described (see Bolton, 1995) .

André's (1887) description is at {original description}. Menozzi's (1930b) description of the male is at {original description}. Forel's (1894b) description of curtior is at {original description}. Forel (1907g) briefly noted that pattensis had TL 9-13 mm; while the head was not as wide as in curtior the sides were much more convex; otherwise like the type form. Santschi (1935b) gave an illustrated note; this is at {original description}.

{Camponotus somalinus} The photomontage of a major is collated from http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0010981 This and the minor shown below appear to be a good match for André's (1887) description.
