location Zaïre (Cataulacus wissmanni var striativentris,
Santschi, 1924b: 219, worker; raised to species by Bolton, 1974a, not
illustrated), collected at Ubangi, Banzyville, by R. P. Augustin;
subspecies donisthorpei (Santschi, 1937a: 61, worker) from
Kenya ; worker only described (see Bolton, 1995)

Bolton commented that the comparison to wissmanni was
misleading as the original description of the latter was inaccurate.

Bolton's modern description (1974a) is at
WORKER - TL 3.6-3.7 mm; HL 0.90-0.94; HW 0.86-0.88; PW 0.70; SL
0.48; a large-eyed species, dorsum of petiole and postpetiole
longitudinally rugose; first gastral tergite very densely
longitudinally rugose; simple blunt erect hairs on all dorsal surfaces
(Bolton, 1974a, not illustrated).
