Crematogaster (Atopogyne) jullieni Santschi
Type
location Congo (Santschi, 1910c: 378, illustrated, worker &
queen); worker and queen only known (see Bolton, 1995)
.
Santschi's (1910c) description is at
.
Wheeler (1922) included a record from "West Africa" by
Fulleborn.
Listed by Strickland (1951a) from Ghana, where Bolton
(1970-71) listed it as one of the six most common carton-nesting
Crematogaster species on cocoa (simply at CRIG or in Ghana
is not clear) but noted, however, that it was a rare species.
Later it was found on cocoa at Kade by Majer (1975), using pkd,
apparently in one sample, when 1200 workers were found.
Bernard (1952) noted it as less well known, listed from Congo
and Angola, where it made a nest of blackish carton. Several
workers were found from savanna at Sérengbara, Guinea.
