Soldier - return to key Minor - return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Congo (Pheidole minima st. corticicola, Santschi, 1910c: 366, all forms; raised to species by Santschi, 1937d: 219) from Brazzaville, by Weiss; all forms described (see Bolton, 1995) .

Santschi's (1910c) description is at {original description}.

Wheeler (1922, as the minima strain) gave two other Congo locations.

Bernard (1952) ascribed a single dealated queen (TL 4 mm) from Guinea, Ziéla savanna (Lamotte) as probably of this species; and noted that the species was common from Banco, Ivory Coast.

{Pheidole corticicola}The photomontages are of minor specimens from Congo, Brazzaville, pitfall trapped by Yves Braet & Eric Nzassi, 2007. These appear to be a close match to the Santschi description.
