Soldier - return to key Minor - return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location South Africa (Santschi, 1932a: 382, illustrated, soldier & worker); also same specimens described as Pheidole capensis variety hewitti (Arnold, 1944: 6, soldier & worker; junior synonym by Arnold, 1952a: 462); soldier and worker described (see Bolton, 1995) .

From Arnold's argument (1952a), it seems that this should be reduced to a subspecies of capensis.
