Soldier - return to key Minor - return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Eritrea (Emery, 1915g: 8, soldier & worker); soldier and worker described (see Bolton, 1995, type location wrongly given as "Ethiopia") .

Emery's (1915g) description is at {original description}.

{Pheidole philippi}Major - the photomontage is of a specimen from the Central African Republic; Dzanga-Sangha National Park; location DK; 22.i.2005; 02°54’19.5" N 16°15’33.3" E 270m; U.V : 19h-24h, Scierie de Bayanga, proche du fleuve; collector Philippe Annoyer.. This matches Emery's (195g) description in all aspects. The minor below is a similarly good match other than the colour, which matches the major whereas the Emery description has the colour as pale yellow-grey other than the mandibles and gaster which tend to brown. Emery, however, saw only one worker specimen and perhaps that was immature and the colour had not developed. Other images can be seen in the folder at - {original description}

{Pheidole phillipi minor}Minor

{Pheidole phillipi}The photomontage is of a minor specimen from Congo, Brazzaville, collection t 1.18; pitfall trapped by Yves Braet & Eric Nzassi, 19.viii.2007.

Other images can be seen in the folders at - {original description} and {original description}.
