Nigeria specimen (as Strumigenys scotti, Taylor,
1979: 49). WORKER. TL 1.71 mm, HL 0.50, HW 0.36, SL 0.23, PW 0.23
No preocular notch. Mandibles with the preapical teeth both
moderately long and apical pair. Head, dorsal alitrunk and petiole
finely reticulate; lateral alitrunk postpetiole and gaster shiny.
Erect hairs sparse, long with only slight apical thickening; also
a pair of long sinuous hairs at the humeral angles of the
pronotum; decumbent hairs on the head, these also with only slight
apical thickening. Midventral spongiform process of petiole along
entire length; narrow dorsolateral strip on petiole; postpetiole
processes moderate; colour brownish-yellow. Found under a fallen banana stem at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, Idi Ayunre, by B.
Bolton (in Bolton, 1983).
