Apart from fine rugae on the dorsum of the head, the sculpturation of
the head, alitrunk and pedicel is solely of fine, dense puncturation.
Erect hairs very sparse and very short. Propodeal spines broad,
elongated triangular, with a flat alignment; metapleural lobes
upturned triangles. Petiole with almost vertical anterior and
posterior faces and rounded angular junctions with a slightly convex
dorsum. Postpetiole with a slightly convex profile. Colour red-brown,
gaster darker.
The holotype worker and 3 paratype workers came from Bolton's own
collections at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, Idi Ayunre, in
leaf litter (10.vi.1969). My collection was of workers from a nest in
the ground at the CRIN W17 block (16.x.1975). There are no other
records. |
