Tetramorium ictidum Bolton
Type location Cameroun (Bolton, 1980: 339, not
illustrated, worker). Described from the holotype worker and 8
paratype workers from a single collection, at a site 23 km east of
Douala (E.S. Ross and K. Lorenzen, 20.xi.1966)

WORKER - TL 2.7-2.9 mm; distinguished by having conspicuous
ground sculpture on the dorsum of the head, which itself is
relatively short and broad. All dorsal surfaces with numerous
quite stout hairs. Colour uniform dark brown, appendages lighter.
One specimen was found in Ghana, at Atewa Forest
Reserve, primary forest in leaf litter, by Belshaw & Bolton
(1994b). |
