return to group key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Ghana (Bolton, 1980: 242, not illustrated; worker), holotype worker, with 6 paratype workers and 3 other workers, from Legon; D. Leston, 24.ix.1970, ant ecology sample .

Bolton's description (1980) is at {original description}.

Distribution records were given by Botlon (1980) as - Nigeria from CRIN (himself), IITA (B.R. Critchley) and Ile Ife (J.T. Medler; B. Lasebikan). From Ivory Coast, at Palmeraie de Lame (30 paratype workers, T. Diomande, 21.i.1976) and Banco Forest (W.L. Brown); Liberia, at Gibi (W.M. Mann) and Gabon. Also from Ghana at CRIG (B. Bolton, C.A. Collingwood and H.E. Box), and Mt. Atewa (C.A. Collingwood) (Bolton, 1980). Since collected (33 workers) from leaf litter in the semi-deciduous forest zone (Mankrang Forest Reserve and Old Tafo; Nankasi, cocoa) (Belshaw & Bolton, 1994b).

Note - On consideration of the original description and fresh material, I suspect this is no more than a junior synonym of the true type Tetramorium angulinode
