     <tax:p>The Head and Thorax are brown orange, the former being furnished with two jaws ; the three little eyes are very distinct. — The Antenna are composed of sixteen articulations, and are the length of the thorax, which does not appear sepa-rated from the abdomen, as in the preceding species. —The Eyes are narrow and oblong.—The Abdomen is black, and fringed with yellow; being as broad and thick at the extremity as the middle. — The Wings are dark brown (almost black) and narrow, but not folded. From the under-part of the abdomen, near the middle, issues a tube that covers, like a groove, a rough serrated bristle, being the instrument through which the creature ejects its eggs.—All the Legs are brown orange, having at each of the thin-joints a strong spine, that assists the animal in its passage.</tax:p>

        <tax:p>The Antenna are small, thread-like, and about the length of the thorax. — The Head is very large, flattish, but rounding at top, and of a dirty black. The Eyes are small, round, and placed at the back part of the head. — The Thorax is small and brown. — The Abdomen the same colour, and in size less than the head, with a small erected scale, placed between it and the thorax. — All the Legs are of a red brown ; having a long spine placed at the bearer-joints of the four hinder ones, which assist the creature and facilitate its pssage.</tax:p>

         <tax:p>The Head is dark mazarine blue, and small.— The Eyes black  The Antenna the same. — The Thorax is cream colour, with two large blue spots upon it ; each of its sies being armed with a strong blue spine. — The Escutcheon is triangular, and dark blue, the extremity cream-colour.—The Abdomen is red, with black streaks crossing the verge of it. — The Wing-Cases are blue half way, the other half opake and brown. — The Wings-, membranaceous and brown. — The Beak, black. All the under-part of the insect is red (except the extremities of the Legs, which are black) having four triangular black spots, running down the middle, and some others placed on the fides.</tax:p>

       <tax:p>La Tête et le Corcelet font brun orange, la premiere étant fournie de deux machoires ; les trois petits yeux font fort distincts.—Les Antennes font composées de seize articulations, et de la longeur du corcelet, qui ne paroit pas être separé de l'abdomen, comme dans l'espèce précédente.— Les Yeux font étroits et oblongs. - L'Abdomen est noir, et entouré des anneaux jaunes ; étant aussi large et gros à l'extrémité qu'au milieu. — Les Ailes font brunes foncées (presque noires) et étroites, mais point pliées. Dès la partie inférieure de l'abdomen, près du milieu, un tube forte qui couvre, comme une rainure, une foie aspre et dentelée, étant l'instrument par lequel l'insecte pond ses œufs. — Touts les Pieds font brun orange, ayant à chaque jointure des jambes une épine forte, qui aide l'insecte dans son passage.</tax:p>

        <tax:p>La Tête est de couleur bleue mazarine foncée, et petite. 
          — Les Yeux noirs, comme aussi les Antennes. 
          — Le Corcelet est couleur de crème, avec deux grandes taches bleues, chacun de ses côtés étant fourni d'une épine bleue et forte. 
          — L'Ecussen est triangulaire et bleu obscur, l'extrémité couleur de crême. 
          — L'Abdomen est rouge, avec des raies noires qui le traversent. 
          — Les Etuis font moitié bleues, et l'autre moitié bruns et opaques.
          — Les Ailes membraneuses et brunes,
          —La Trompe est noire. Tout le dessous de l'insecte est rouge (excepté les extrémités des pieds, qui font noirs) 
          ayant quatre taches noires triangulaires, courant au milieu, et quelques autres placées sur les côtes.</tax:p>

          — From the mouth extends a Beak along the breast to the abdomen, that is exceeding small like a hair.

          — The Wings are of a blackish brown. All the under-part of the insect being ash-colour.</tax:p>

        <tax:p>The Antenna are longer than the thorax, the first joint of which is almost equal to the remainder. —The Eyes are small, and placed very backward. —The Head is black and small, being armed with very strong and sharp jaws .— The Thorax is brown, having on the fore-part two spines, one on each fide, that bend outwardly} on the top are likewise two more, that bend or incline towards the abdomen. — The Scale (which is a dis-tinguishing characteristic of this genus, and placed between, the thorax and abdomen) is very large and erect, standing very high, and branching at top into two hooks, that bend in opposite directions, in a very lingular manner. — The Abdomen is round, and larger than the head ; the forepart being brown, the hinder black. — The Legs are black, the hinder ones being longest ; having spines at the bearer-joints, as usual.</tax:p>

        <tax:p>La Tête est jaunatre brune, comme aussi les Yeux.—Les Antennes sont petites et en filet, et plus courtes que le corcelet. — Dès la bouche s'étend une Trompe le long de la poitrine à l'abdomen, qui est extrêmement déliée comme un poil. — Le Corcelet est jaunâtre brun. —  L'Abdomen noir. — Les Etuis rouges, leurs bouts jaunes. — Les Aîles sont noirâtres brunes. Tout le dessous de l'insecte est de couleur de cendres.</tax:p>

        <tax:p>Les Antennes sont plus longues que le corcelet,» la premiere jointure desquelles est presque égale à toutes les autres. — Les Yeux sont petits, et placés fort en arrière. — La Tête est noire, petite, et armés dès machoires très fortes et tranchantes. — Le Corcelet est brun, ayant fur le devant deux épines», une de chaque côté, qui se courbent en dehors; fur le haut font aussi deux autres* qui se courbent ou s'inclinent vers l'abdomen. — L'Ecaille (qui est un caractère distingué de cet genre, et placé entre -le corcelet et l'abdomen) est fort grande et érigée,, s'elevant fort   haut,   et divisée   au  sommet en deux crochets, qui se courbent en des directions opposées,   dans   une manière  très   singulière.—— L' Abdomen est rond, et plus grand que la Tête ; le devant étant brun, le derrière noir. — Les Pieds font noirs, ceux de derrière étant les plus longs, et ont des épines aux jointures des tarses comme a l'ordinaire.</tax:p>
